13 Wishes of Yule

I was kind of hesitant in posting this over here, but at this point I don’t think I care what I post on my personal site. I don’t think I have ever said it out loud besides one time, but I feel like people could kind of figure out how much I love witchcraft with what sort of interests I take part in and have. If anyone has a problem with it, I will say I am not sorry, and you have to sort that out personally.

I wanted to take part in the Witchtok’s 13 Wishes of Yule/13 Magical Nights, which is when you write 13 wishes down and then you burn them each of the nights of Yule for the universe to take care of. The final wish that is left is the wish that you are responsible for accomplishing during the new year. The wishes are supposed to be written in present tense, folded towards you, and kept in a glass jar. I have also heard you aren’t supposed to look at the wish that is being burned, but I have also seen people say they have written their wishes down to track throughout the new year. There has also been some mixed information, with some saying it’s 12 wishes and some saying it’s 13, and some saying it starts the 20th and others saying it starts the 21st due to it being the start of Yule. At the end of the day, it is your craft, and you do what feels natural and right for you!

I was set on doing the 13 wishes starting on the 20th, so I had prepared my wishes by writing them down a few days ago. I had wrote a reminder in my planner, because I know I am prone to forgetting things. This way I had everything prepared for when I wanted to begin.

With me starting today, I decided to use my cauldron shaped oil warmer with a small white tea light, because I find I like that they burn shorter than the taller ones (since we need to always keep fire safety in mind). I normally do my spell work in the kitchen, on top of the stove, so I always make sure I wipe everything down first, then cleanse the space. Today I had used a dragons blood incense, which I wanted to use to cleanse and boost this spell work. I dressed my candle in some Moonlight and Sage spell oils, and lit the candle, placing it in the bottom opening of the cauldron. I picked one random folded wish out of the bunch, and lit it on fire from the tea light, speaking out “The universe is already unfolding this for me.” I let it burn on the top portion of the cauldron until it is ash. I don’t touch anything until the tea light is fully burned, and then I will clean up everything and do it all over again each day.

I did do this early in the day, because I do have plans on streaming later on Twitch, so I wanted to make sure day 1 was taken care of. I still have the tea light burning on the stove, which I decided to pull my tarot card and then separately my oracle card of the day. I had bought the Seasons of the Witch – Yule Oracle, and had pulled the Yule Log, which I thought was absolutely perfect and fitting for today!
