Alien: Earth – Episode 4 Review

We had caught up on the released episodes of Alien: Earth yesterday, so I will write separate reviews for Episodes 4, 5, and 6! I have to say the show is picking up more and more, which I feel like is really exciting, especially since it’s already an enjoyable show!

Right off the bat (as with all three of these latest episodes) I get reinforced why I with how much I dislike Kavalier. Wendy is getting fixed again, and he is more concerned about her talking to the alien species in their lab. It’s just frustrating because he was so obsessed with the hybrids, but now that he has these aliens they are moved to the backburner. He just seems like a spoiled, rude brat.

I do like seeing the relationship between Wendy and Joe, though! At first I wasn’t crazy about his character, but he truly seems to care for his sister that he thought passed away. I think it’s a nice vibe compared to everyone else being out for themselves (which is also seen in the two doctors but more on that later). Although I wasn’t expecting anyone at Neverland to allow him to leave with his sister after the fact that she is a working prototype and this is what seems to be a multi billion dollar company who owns part of the world! I dislike anyone involved with this company, honestly.

I also don’t like how Kavalier and his lacky Atom Eins both manipulate others around them, such as Wendy and her brother Joe (both separately). I despise manipulation and think it’s such a grimy tactic, and I really can’t wait to see what is coming for these characters.

My absolute favorite part of this episode is the alien eye, which at first I was terrified of when it was first introduced a few episodes back. The fact that they showed this creature violently ripping out the sheep’s eye and taking over was disturbing, but they did a great job showing it. Mentioning it now, this creature is one of my favorites, but I will go into why during the next review.

The fact that these are still children, doing adult jobs and missions still blows my mind. Nibs being convinced she is pregnant after being attacked, then attacking the women doctor. Morrow contacting Slightly and trying to convince him to steal one of the alien eggs or his family will get hurt. Tootles helping out in the whole science lab with research and experiments. The whole concept is just really funny to me because at the end of the day these are still children. I just feel like the whole moving them into synthetic bodies and then expecting them to think and act like adults is not achievable.

The way that they close out the episode with the snake form Alien baby bursting from the lung was actually a little silly. Matt was trying to say that they look similar when they burst from the chest, but then took it back because they really stretched the snake like look of this form. It’s just a little goofy to me because we do see how the aliens look when they burst from chests, so to change this because it burst from a lung is just odd.

I’ll start writing the next review for Episode 5 soon!
